Sims 4 Crashes After Varying Amount of Time Playing
Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Always.
What is your current game version number? 1.58.63.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? The Sims 4 Deluxe, Discover University, Get Famous, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work, Realm of Magic, Strangerville, My First Pet Stuff, Jungle Adventure, Laundry Day Stuff, Parenthood, Vampires, Dine Out, Romantic Garden Stuff, Outdoor Retreat, Spa Day, Cool Kitchen Stuff, Perfect Patio Stuff, and Holiday Celebration Pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play the game for a while? I don't know what pattern there is, if any, because I haven't noticed one.
What happens when the bug occurs? The game freezes, my keyboard commands no longer function, and my laptop won't enter sleep mode when I shut the lid.
What do you expect to see? The game to function normally.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? I removed all CC and mods, but it continued to happen.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Uncertain.
I haven't had my laptop for a couple of weeks, so there have been a few patches that I wasn't able to play through. I also bought and downloaded Discover University, Realm of Magic, and Cool Kitchen Stuff before I began to play, so I'm uncertain if that has anything to do with this. The range of time has been something like 15 minutes to a few hours. I tried the Repair feature in Origin (after removing my mods and CC), but it still happens.
@writtenShipper There aren't any Sims 4 errors in your new dxdiag, or any related to your graphics card drivers. There's nothing about Nahimic either, which is good to see. But you do have a number of new update failures. Try running Windows updates manually: click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen, select Settings > Updates & Security, then click the button to check for updates. If there are a number of them pending, it might take a few tries to get them all to run.
If that's not the issue—you might have a Windows Defender update or two, but not much else—it's a good idea to run a couple of checks on the Windows system files. Here's how:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
