Sims 4 crashing after startup

Hello my Sims 4 keeps crashing after it loads the main menu what I mean by that is after I start the game it crashes after the huge sims crystal when it shows the menu. To clarify although I have applications for it I don't have any mods/cc installed,I have more than enough storage for anything it may need,I have more than enough computer specs for it and my computer uses windows as an operating system

The things I tried to fix said issue that didn't work.

-Disabling every overlay

-Running EA app/Sims 4 on admin

-Running EA app/Sims 4 on compatibility mode

-Verifying files of the game and EA app

-Checking on task manager if its working behind the scenes

-Reinstalling EA app/Sims 4

  • Idk if you fixed this issue, but I had the exact same problem w/the same errors. It was because my onedrive was linked and my Windows Defender was blocking access to my one drive docs. I ended up just unlinking my onedrive backup and doing the fix listed by the previous commenter. It works just fine now.

  • @Ifirelyz  When you say the game crashes after loading the Main Menu, do you mean it crashes while you're still viewing the Main Menu, or that it crashes after you click Resume or Load Game or whatever option you're choosing?

As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddictWhat I meant on my 1st was it crashes after it shows like 2-3 frames of the main menu (also this is my first time downloading sims 4) as for the moving sims 4 out to desktop after doing it I got an error when the Sims 4 title screen finished loading saying I lack memory for some reason.

    Edit:Removed the dx.

    Hello, having the same problem.

I open up The Sims 4, it doesn't even make it past the loading screen before it closes.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled The Sims 4, the EA app, updated my Nvidia drivers and now i'm at a loss of what to do.

I have attached my DxDiag so any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

@Kirkehhhh  Did you try a clean user folder, as described in post 2?  If not, that's the first thing to do.

Regardless, your dxdiag crashed while running, which could be a random blip or a sign of a system issue.  So I'd suggest running a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

If the clean folder doesn't or didn't help with the Sims 4 issue, please try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If that doesn't help either, please post a new dxdiag.
