Sims 4 Damaged/Missing Files Error

I just downloaded the Sims 4 from steam, no custom content or any mods at all. I’ve played the game before with no issues. I now get an error message when I launch the game saying the game files are damaged or missing. I’ve verified the files on steam, uninstalled from steam and redownloaded on EA, and ran a repair on EA. Nothing works and it still says this. I can’t even get into the game to fix any settings that could cause this either. Please help, I just want to play the game. (To clarify, NO mods or content have been downloaded, I’ve ran the game from steam perfectly fine before. I’ve done all the repairs and file verification I can find)

  • @sf8o4rl761cp  If you use a third-party antivirus, please disable it, then repair the game through Steam: open your game library, right-click the Sims 4 game tile, and select Properties > Local files > Verify integrity of the game files.

If that doesn't help, or you don't use an outside antivirus, please uninstall Sims 4 from Steam and reinstall it into a different location.  Create a folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.  Create a new Steam library there, as described in this article:

If you prefer, you can move the existing install to the new folder first, also described in the article.  This is less reliable than downloading a fresh copy but also faster; if it doesn't work, go with the fresh download.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know which drive you've been installing Sims 4 to if you have more than one.
