Sims 4 File taking up 60gb PC

Hi there,

I've gone into my files to make sure I have space for the new Horse Ranch pack, and seen that my Sims 4 Folder is taking up a ridiculous amount of space.

I've got all my EP/SP/GP folders listed in the main The Sims 4 folder, as well as a Delta folder that has all the same EP/SP/GP files. This Delta folder has them all time stamped as June 2023, whilst the ones listed without a separate folder are time stamped between 2020-2023.

I've cut the Delta folder out and then tried opening the game, but it broke it - wouldn't show any of the play options down the right hand side of the main menu. I've pasted the folder back in and cut all the loose folders, loaded the game, but it acted like I didn't have any saves or packs. EA can see that I already have the packs, so not sure what's happening. I'm trying to "repair" the game via the EA app but it's taking about 30 mins to "repair" 11gb of data.

I'm really not sure what's happening. The game is also loading and showing a list of all my custom content and mods, but in the files I can't find them, so where is the game reading them?

I've included some screenshots.

1 - "New Folder" is where I placed all of the loose EP/GP/SP files to, it sits at 31gb - these files were in "The Sims 4" folder

2 - This is the potential duplicate files that were all modified *today now (as I cut them out and pasted them back in)* June 2023

3 - This is the files that were loose (Photo 1) but modified at different times

4 - This is the properties of "The Sims 4" folder, sitting at 34gb (since removing files in photo 1).

Please help.

  • @tyrandersaurus  The Sims 4 base game is around 20 GB.  Installing every pack takes that total closer to 60 GB.  The pack folders (EPxx, GPxx, SPxx) directly inside the Sims 4 folder contain the data for those packs.  The folders inside Delta contain patch data for those packs.  So when an issue with some pack's content is patched, the new files go into Delta.

What issues, if any, are you seeing right now?  If one or more of your packs aren't loading, delete the associated folders directly within "The Sims 4," clear the EA App's cache:

and download the packs again.  And please confirm that the folders reappear in the correct location—the App has been known to download packs into the wrong folder.

I had no idea all the packs took up that much additional space!

I've ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the game and all the packs - I'm hoping that will solve any issues I had when I removed the files.

    Thank you for replying!
