SIMS 4: GAME HAS RESET ITSELF?

I recently switched my Sims 4 game to another computer, and willingly overwrote my previous world (keep in mind that my computer actually still has those save files). I had started another family and I'd gotten in deep, they'd began living the comfortable life of Sims after probably a good 30-45 hours of playing. The last time I played was yesterday, and I saved. Save early, save often is a motto I go by, sot here should be at least a hundred save files in my computer just from this game. I go to start playing today, and it's wiped. It's like the game reset itself and I had never touched it. My gallery is reset so I can't bring back anything, and it's giving me tutorials like I don't have 215 hours of play time. I've been looking online to try and fix this, and here are the things I've tried:

1.) searching for my tray folder and checking if anything was misplaced

2.) find my save files and restart from an earlier save point

3.) go to my scratch folder and check for "the files"

The only one I think might work is the scratch folder because I see a lot of files in there, but I couldn't find a single article actually explaining what to look for or what  to move or anything related. So how do I get my world back? I've had save files disappear on my computer before, and I was never able to fix that before. Is it possible it's my computer.

  • This sounds like the game has either created a new folder or is using a different one than you think it does.

Are you using oneDrive or any other cloud services ?

Does the saves folder you're looking at actually have any saves from yesterday ?

When I started the game up today it prompted me to make a OneDrive folder, so I've made one now. But no, I wasn't previously using One Drive. There are two Sims 4 folders, one has several saves from yesterday and the other one (the folder I'm presuming has overwritten the other) only has ones from today.

Did you try moving the saves from the one that has the saves to the one that has the ones form today and see if they show up then ?

Do make a backup before testing stuff.

To make sure I didn't lose them I just copied and pasted them into the folder with the saves from today, and launched the game. As soon as it loaded into the world my saves were still there (it brought up the moving in tutorial but I disregarded it). None of my stuff is in my gallery though, which files do I move where to get that back?

Everything is back as it should be, all my rooms/sims/lots are back in my gallery, and my family is back to the exact point they were last night. Thank you so much for all your help!
