Sims 4 gameplay using touchpad

I have a Dell Gaming Laptop and Sims 4 does not work the same as Sims 3.  I could zoom in and rotate lot to look at all room for placement.  I could also view from the top of the lot looking at the layout in full and zoom in.  Did you take away this ability in Sims 4?  It is hard to populate a room when you can't rotate the room.  Or look down onto it.  I have never been so frustrated with a game before.  At this point I feel that my $60 was a waste.

I am writing hoping that these Sims3 functions are there just not visible to the naked eye like they were in Sims3.  If not, then I am going back to Sims3 as I like the way the game behaves so much more.

    you can  use Z to zoom in too then - to zoom out or hold Z and tap - to zoom out

    To view the property from the Top if you use your ctrl key and hit the up arrow it will rotate.  To go back to normal view use ctrl and down arrow.  Ctrl D rotates the view so you can see from different angles. 

    Thanks for the reply on zooming in and out.  I will have to give it a go next time I play.
