sims 4 insuffcient memory

Hello guys!

Whenever I open Sims 4, I keep getting a message that says: "Your computer has insufficient memory to run The Sims 4 with your currently installed pack(s). This may lead to poor game stability."

The game keeps crashing after every three minutes. I tried restarting it, I tried changing mb in advanced settings but nothing seems to be working. My computer has a lot of memory, I don't know what's wrong. By the way I'm not good with computers so please help as if you were explaining it to a kid because I have no idea what I'm doing.

I have many packages like city living, vampires, dine out, get to work, but the problem only began happening when I installed the cats and dogs expansion pack yesterday.

Seasons and Get Famous also have the same requirements as pets.

You should be able to play without pets (at least you won't get the message) but 32 bit operating systems lead to out-of-RAM crashes eventually the bigger your save gets.

If you uninstalled any other pack, no that won't help as it's specifically those three that give the message.

As @roberta591 confirmed above, your system is below specs the requirements so I think the best is to get a new shiny.

Feel free to start a thread here if you need help shopping for one.

I'd go with at least an i5 processor, at least 8 GB of RAM, a dedicated video card and a 500 GB SSD along with a 1 TB HDD hard drive, 64 bit is a must but I don't think new computers are sold with 32 bit anymore.

  • Hi @KingBacchanalist

C&D and any of the newer expansions require a 64 bit operating system

As you only have a 32 bit one, you get this error.

    You have two options

    - Upgrade your computer to 64 bit (although I don't think that's really worth it, judging by the rest of your specs) or get a new computer
    - Get in touch with customer support and try to get a refund with the support.
  • So even if I uninstalled another package I wouldn’t be able to play it? And If I were to uninstall C&D would I be able to play like before?

@KingBacchanalist  One of the requirements to run C&D is that you have a 64 bit processor with a 64 bit Windows operating system. With a 64 bit operating system your computer can access more then 4Gb of memory. The i5 cpu you have can access 8Gb of memory. While a 64 bit system can access more then 8Gb the architecture of this cpu is limited to 8Gb. The hard drive is very small. The integrated video chip only has 64 Mb of dedicated video memory and the minimum requirement for this game is 128Mb of true dedicated video memory. While below spec computers may run this game, the game may stop running correctly at any time for no apparent reason.
