Sims 4 Long Loading Screens

Since I started playing Sims 4, all of the loading screens have been very long. At least 2-3 minutes each, regardless of what my sims are doing - traveling between lots, changing appearance in the mirror, changing outfits, etc. - all the loading screens are long.

I'm using a brand new PC and it exceeds all the minimum requirements for the game. Am I the only one with this problem and how can I fix it?

  • It's been awhile since I've posted on this topic, but I wanted to add some information.

I started a new game, and after it had been played for awhile, the same thing started happening -- exceedingly long load screens.  However, I have an old gaming desktop that I decided to get running again (it had hard drive failure and since I have a good laptop, I decided to just leave it be).  It definitely exceeds the recommended system requirements, and while a few things do run much better on it, using the same saves, it also has very long loading screens.

I don't think it's the issue of the computer.  This machine, while older, runs most things much better than my gaming laptop.  I think it's an issue with the saves themselves getting bogged down.  I hope it's something that can be fixed.

This computer also is using an SSD.  The graphics card, a GTX 560 ti, is a better card in all benchmarks by a good margin than the recommended GTX 650 ti.  The i7 chip is first generation, but it is a quad core chip.  There is no reason at all this machine should have issues with long load times.

I really hope whatever is causing this gets fixed, because I like the game, but I don't think I like it enough to deal with several minute long loading screens to go anywhere.

  • Hi - I'm glad I found this post because I was thinking I was the only one experiencing this problem.  I suffer 2-3 minute load times between location screens, and last night experienced a similar wait time when going back to CAS to change a Sim character's appearance.  It's a frustrating aspect to an otherwise fun game.

My DxDiag link  is posted below.  Aside from this, my game play is smooth and fun.  I have just a hand ful of CC, a few outfits and a body hair mod.

    Any help/guidance is appreciated!

Your graphic chip doesn't have any dedicated memory and I can't see any indication that you have another card in there.

Do you know if you do ?

Was this message in response to my question? If so, I'm not super familiar with what you answer means.  How would I know if I had another memory card? What are the implications if I don't?  Will the game just continue to load slowly, or will it crash?

    Thanks!

    Yes.

It's about your graphics card. Graphics chips are usually not made for game and you might only be able to play on low graphics settings. If you also have a card, you need to make sure it runs on that but I see no indication that you do so try lowering your graphics settings to see if it gets better.

I think I've found a solution to the problem (at least,it works for me). The problem isn't about lot inventory but it's about personal sim's inventory: so to solve the speed problem you need to put the object from the personal inventory into the house or sell the objects. I hope to help you

Never heard that one. I will try deleted old game saves.
