Wait! Silly me 🙂 I found the problem - I was in Build Mode... so apparently some cheats don't work in Build Mode. They should add that as a side note :P

I just got excited not too long ago because my sim just earned 50k on his own wages and from photos I was taking and selling.
He's an outdoorsy type of sim so I get a moodlet and get opportunities to take photos.
Anyway if you want to cheat money firstly you must press and hold CTRL + SHIFT + C all together and a little text box area will appear at the top left of the screen.
From here you type "testingcheats on" and you should receive a notification saying cheats are enabled.
After that the correct money codes are as follows (do not add in the quotation marks):
"Kaching" - adds 1,000 simoleons
"Motherlode" - adds 50,000 simoleons
"sims.modify_funds x" ("x" being the amount of money you type) - you can plus or minus money here.
For example "sims.modify_funds -50000" will remove 50,000 simoleons from the currently active household you are playing.
To add funds type "sims.modify_funds 25000" and it will add 25,000 simoleons to the currently active household you are playing, or any of the other above mentioned cheats.
