SIMS 4 Newcrest - Can't place/build lots, sometimes can't play HELP

I downloaded Newcrest recently and everything was fine. When I decided to start placing lots from the gallery onto Newcrest, all that would happen was me placing them, then the loading screen appearin...

I have this problem too, but it's spread to every world - so now my entire game is completely unplayable! I don't have any mods installed, just the Get to Work expansion pack,  so it's presumably a glitch associated with the new world or the expansion itself.

Bugs spread from save game to save game if you don't completely shut of the game inbetween. Don't just go to the main menu. Shut down the game, restart and try new save game.
