Sims 4 not launching after latest update

I can't work out why it won't launch...

I just updated and bought and installed Cottage Living and Tiny Living in the sales.

My antivirus isn't blocking access to my user files, I've repaired, reinstalled and moved the user files out of documents and absolutely none of it makes a difference.... I also don't use mods or CC whatsoever.

Getting real sick of spending money on EA's broken garbage....

Any advice welcome

@silmarwennenharm  Do you only ever play Sims 4 in a virtual machine, or can you try running it on the host machine?  I ask because the game may not know what to do with the setup, and possibly the graphics driver in particular.

If you do want to keep playing in the VM, please try forcing both DirectX 9 and 11 modes.  I'd suggest trying whichever one isn't in use by default, but you may not be able to get far enough to check.  To force either mode, open the EA App game library, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add either -dx9 or -dx11 in the command line box, and save.  This overrides any other setting.  Let me know what you find.

Thanks for trying to help 🙂

    I've run the diagnostics tool.

The game won't load at all. I'm currently in the process of reinstalling just the base game and then each pack/expansion one by one if that works

So the base game is all I have installed and it still loads for 2 seconds and immediately crashes out... No error message, just crashes
