Sims 4 not launching after October 2022 Update.

Altogether this is how it went down:

I updated the Sims 4 on 10/14/2022, patch ID 12.21.0-5278-f11b147ed

Took my mods folder out of the Origin Folder to store it on an extended drive, was able to launch the game and I wanted my mods Installed, so when the window in the Sims 4 Main Menu popped up that said "mods are disabled and had to be enabled if wanted" so i went to check the box to enable mods and exited the Game so the game can reset and start again after a modification in settings has been mad.

Pulled the Mods Folder from my extended Drive to the PC Origin Folder and clicked on Sims 4 Desktop Icon.

It opened the EA App and tried to load the sims game.

I waited and thought its gonna open soon but nothing happened.

So i tried again and the same thing happened. EA tried to load the game, EA window disappeared, popped back up and all I see is the EA Menu. As nothing has happened.

While i got frustrated, I took the mods folder back out from origin folder

and did the steps that are displayed here :

nothing....

i reinstalled the sims as new without mods, i tried to compatibility troubleshoot both EA app and sims App and nothing works.

I cleared EA cache, repaired the game within the EA app... I don't know what to do anymore..

My Laptop is up to date, firewalls and virus protection are good and have not found issues

Infos on my laptop are found here.

Again, the Game has worked fine before and I dont know why or what caused it to crash this hard all of a sudden.

Is there a way to find out if the mods // cc's are damaged somehow?

was it caused by me trying to enable mods but why isnt it working if mods arent enabled with a new reinstall of game?

P.S my C folder has 64.8GB storage leftover, I dont think its that either.

  • @Kodiye  Just to be clear, you can't open the game even after moving the Sims 4 folder out of Documents?  Did the folder actually move, or was there a copy left over?  Please check if you're not sure; the folder would get copied instead of moved if you tried to transfer it to another drive, or if OneDrive was syncing the contents of Documents.

Please also undo the compatibility settings you're using for the EA App and the game.  That's not necessary here and can only complicate things.

Finally, your dxdiag shows a few Windows errors, so it's a good idea to run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.
