Sims 4 not launching
Having trouble launching Sims 4 digital deluxe. When I press play on origin the small tab thing comes up in the right hand corner however it doesn't load the game, instead it takes me back to origin....
@x9yg315tpqzr I'd still like to see a dxdiag, as mentioned before. There are many system issues that could show up in one game but not others. For example, software installed on your computer might conflict with some feature of Sims 4, or the game might use a runtime that happens to be corrupted on your computer, whereas other games use different runtimes that happen to be intact. There really are too many issues to start guessing; that's why the dxdiag is helpful.
@Bethl0uise1 If you ever want to try again, please provide the info I requested back on page one. It's possible this is a virtual memory issue, which could be easy to fix, but it's impossible to tell without more information.
How do I do the dxdiag so I can post it on here
@x9yg315tpqzr I linked instructions earlier. But if it's easier:
Hi Here it is
@x9yg315tpqzr This looks like it might be a memory issue too. Your laptop has only 4 GB RAM, which while technically enough for Sims 4 doesn't leave you much of a margin of error. The laptop's virtual memory is almost entirely used as well, meaning that with physical memory (RAM) full, the extra data has nowhere to go.
As a first step, please restart your computer, open the Task Manager, and let me know how much RAM the system is using before you open any apps. If it's above 2 GB, click the Task Manager's Startup tab and take a screenshot. (Use Windows key-shift-S to capture the portion of the screen you want.)
Please also let me know how your system is managing virtual memory. Click Windows key-R and enter "sysdm.cpl" without quotes. Click the Advanced tab, then under Performance, click Settings, and select the Advanced tab there, then click Change. You don't need to change anything; just take a screenshot of what you see.
My partner is going to check it out...and see if I can purchase more ram did you state how I can look if it’s my ram issue or memory issue ?
@x9yg315tpqzr There are a few ways to determine that this is definitely or probably an out of memory issue. One would be if you have a crash dump for Sims 4: the dump would report that specifically. You can look for recent crash dumps by clicking Windows key-R and entering this:
%LocalAppData%\CrashDumps
If you find one and don't have the tools to read it yourself, feel free to upload it somewhere and link it here; I'll take a look. But it's entirely possible the game hasn't generated a crash dump recently—the Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag could be older. In that case, it's more about testing to see whether freeing up more memory helps.
And to that end, I'd really like the info I described earlier. It's not useful for me to give you recommendations unless I have an idea of how much memory your has available, what programs are using it, and how virtual memory is being managed.
As for whether your laptop could accommodate a RAM upgrade, check the user manual. The important detail is whether there's at least one slot for RAM: even if it's currently occupied by a 4 GB stick, you could replace that with an 8 or 16 GB module (8 should be fine for Sims 4). But if the RAM is soldered in and there's no empty slot, you won't be able to upgrade.
Thank you am going to have a look into it as I find it very weird my old laptop was a 4Ram aswell but sims 4 works was just slow and kept crashhing
Hi, have you managed to solve the problem? I'm having the exact same problem: Acer Swift 1 but 8 GB RAM and the game just won't open, just a little window in the top left corner and then nothing happens. Being desperate since nothing helps and anyone having this exact problem just never writes their solution anywhere.
a little window in the corner, I had that problem before. I disabled Origin in game and it fixed it.
@vg7k2f8xph90 If disabling Origin in-game doesn't help, please try launching the game in windowed mode: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, enter -w in the command line box, and save.
If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Disabling Origin doesn't help, neither does starting it in windowed mode. Here's the dxdiag:
@vg7k2f8xph90 Please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to the folder yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save.
If the game still doesn't open, try setting the user and system DPI scalings to 100%. Even if you want to switch it back later, this is still a useful test.

If that doesn't help either, please let me know whether you did a clean install of Windows 11 when upgrading. A couple of players who haven't been able to run Sims 4 in Windows 11 have reported that a clean OS install helped, after they didn't do one initially. I'm not saying you're necessarily at that point yet, only that it might be necessary if nothing else helps.
