Sims 4 not launching

My sims 4 game stopped working and basically froze so I decided to end task in task manager. After that though, it wouldn't open. EA also wouldn't open and the error for the sims that comes up is "application not found". In steam it gives the error "the operation was canceled by the user". I reinstalled EA after deleting it and it still won't open. I hadn't messed with the files at all so I'm worried something mightve been deleted when I closed it before. I tried started a new task in task manager and it gave the same error. I'm just worried because I've closed the game like this before and it wad fine. Pls help!!

  • @12242212  If you haven't restarted your computer—a real restart, not sleep and wake or even a shutdown and reboot—please do that first.  If that doesn't help, please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), download a fresh copy of the installer, and use that to reinstall.  Run both Steam and the EA App as an admin before trying to launch Sims 4.

It's also worth repairing the game in Steam.  Open your game library, right-click the Sims 4 tile, and select Properties > Local files > Verify integrity of the game files.

I tried both of these and neither are working, I have the same issue as OP.

@sbjvqhqnjb62  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
