Sims 4 not launching

I have had so many issues trying to play the sims 4 game over the last month, anytime there is an update on the game it causes it to fail while launching. The only way I can fix it is by uninstalling everything and then re-downloading. I wasted hours on this today and tried the "Repair" option many times. it never works. I am beyond frustrated and am at a loss for how to fix this issue.

@puzzlezaddict Okay so as a new update, I found one of your older posts explaining to another player to move "entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop." I just did that and the game now launches and allows me to play. However, I no longer have any of my saved progress in the game and have to start again. I am happy the game now launches but is there anyway to get any of my progress back?

@o_vanboxtel  Yes, you can restore your progress by moving the contents of the saves and Tray folders from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  It's best to move the files themselves, not the folders they're in.

Before you do that though, please test any mods or custom content you were using previously.  Some of your mods and cc may have broken with the latest patch, in which case you'll need to update or do without.  If you have a lot of content, the 50/50 method can make the process much more efficient:

Please keep in mind that a number of mods may be broken, so you'll need to test everything at least once.  It might save you some time to just download updated versions of whatever you can find.

Other than mods, saves, and Tray items, most of the content in the Sims 4 folder is generic and will regenerate as necessary.  You might want to keep the contents of Screenshots and Recorded Videos; you can discard the rest.
