Sims 4 not loading properly after latest Windows 11 update

Hi there,

My PC just updated to the latest Windows update (Windows 11, version 22H2), and now my Sims 4 won't load (from the EA app).

It will load up to the main home screen, and then freeze (cursor won't move), and even while loading to the home screen it's very lagged.

I tried many things: restarting my PC, repairing the game on the EA app, troubleshooting on the Windows PowerShell,... Nothing!

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks a lot in advance!

    @anitatrombini

    Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
    If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

  • did you ever get a solution to this? my game just started doing the same thing after my most recent windows update and i dont even have mods of anything installed.

    @tylerisnotahuman  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

    If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
