Sims 4 Not Working With CC?
Just to clarify, this started about a week and a half ago. Earlier in October, I installed the Sims 3 on my newer computer (on a separate computer account), the same one that I have been using for the Sims 4 since last December. The last time that I played the Sims 4 was October 4th of this year, since I started playing the Sims 3 again after that, but I recently had a craving for the Sims 4 in anticipation of the new City Living pack. Again, to clarify, I have a lot of custom content installed for the Sims 4, but only one actual mod, that isn't even a script mod.
On the 24th of October - before I attempted to launch the Sims 4 - I installed some new custom content that I thought was interesting. I extracted the .zip folders with WinRar like I always do, and placed them into the Mods folder the next morning. Before that, I installed the new update. I then launched the game in 32 bit mode. It went through the EA and the Maxis screen, and proceeded to freeze on the screen that said "Sims 4". At first, I didn't think that it completely froze, I just thought that it was running slow because of all of the custom content that I have installed to my game, but this went on for about 15 more minutes before I attempted to get off of the screen using "shift, ctrl and esc.". This didn't work, so I restarted my computer. This happened about twice more before I took out all of the custom content from my Mods folder and repaired the game through Origin. After this, I launched the game without custom content, and it loaded through each screen fine, and brought me directly to the main menu, informing me of the month's "Day of the Dead" Challenge. I clicked the check mark, looked to see that my saves were still there, checked that CAS was working fine, and then exited the game. I then placed my custom content back into the Mods folder, and launched the game again. It loaded through the EA and the Maxis screens, but, again, froze on the "Sims 4" screen. I tried to launch it again. And again. And again. And again. I checked that there was no new update. I took out my CC, repaired the game, and launched it again without any CC, and it loaded perfectly fine.
I absolutely love each and every object of custom content that I install, and it breaks my heart for this to be happening. My game experience would not be the same without it, and that is why I am so frustrated. I've looked at other forums and help websites for any ideas as to what to do, but it only states to repair the game through Origin. I have not contacted technical support, as I figured that I would try a forum beforehand. I absolutely adore the Sims 4 and I always have, and I am craving to enter gameplay, but I honestly have no clue what to do now - I am so utterly exasperated at this point.
This exact thing happened to me. I had loads of custom content and mods so it was difficult to figure out which mod or mods were causing the problem. What I opted to do was to move all my custom content to a new folder outside the game. I named it SIms4mods. Then I proceeded to copy and paste only those items that I really use.into the actual game mods folder. I made sure to reintroduce only objects like custom furniture, windows and doors, walls, makeup clothes etc. I DID NOT reintroduce any game altering mods, ie custom traits, cooking ingredient requirement suppressors, etc. Once I did that, the game worked fine. I am guessing that one or more of those mods conflicted with the new patch since they were not made by EA. Rather than take the risk, I left them out.
