SIMS 4 not working

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Click on "play game" in origin
What happens when the bug occurs? When clicking on the play game option in origin, the origin interface disappears for a second or so and then returns. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Uninstalling origin and reinstalling origin and games There are no mods in place My daughter has paid £100s to play this game and the expansion packs and still nothing.
What do you expect to see? The main screen for Sims (I don't see any errors in Eventvwr, there's no errors that pop-up on screen, I've spend the best part of 20 hours going through each of the forums and internet looking for results without success (I work in IT so am no slouch with this stuff!)) No other games, whatsoever, have problems; all games in Origin and elsewhere on the PC run without problems. PC is a Ryzen 7, 8 core, 64GB memory, 2xGTX1080, Windows 10, fully updated and patched with all the latest drivers.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
