Sims 4 overheating

I just bought a brand new laptop, so it's not any dust or hardware issue.
My laptop gets so hot when playing Sims, after about 10mins I can't keep it on my lap. My laptop doesn't overheat when using anything else.
It's a Core™ i3-7100U 8gb ram which should be sufficient for sims4. I even returned my laptop & replaced it because I thought it was a hardware issue as well but it obviously can't be.
I've kept the game updated so I'm not sure what else I can do.
  • Yeah that's normal! Computers tend to turn off when they really get too hot. A cooling pad would be a good idea, especially with using the laptop on your lap.

I usually put something like a big book underneath my laptop so my legs don't get extra crispy. 😛

  • Most laptops don't do well on laps or soft surfaces like blankets or cushions. The Sims 4 is a massive game which asks a lot from your computer.

Your computer isn't a very strong laptop, so the game will ask a lot from it. Depending on what kind of material it's made of it can become pretty hot. Which is normal when playing heavy games.

You can buy special fans to put underneath your computer so it gets a bit cooler.

As it is a new laptop you may want to see if you can exchange it with something a bit more powerful as it is already struggling with the Sims 4 and the upcoming Expansion Cats & Dogs will have higher hardware requirements.

Nah it's too late to exchange now unfortunately, when I researched, it said my specs were enough so that's really annoying.
Guess there's nothing I can do except remove some expansion packs.

@Cherrymarie9 as long as your laptop doesn't turn off while gaming it isn't that bad. I have an HP Omen, which is made out of aluminum, which gets super hot as well. And that's a gaming laptop. The heat is a normal thing, if it starts crashing because of it that isn't normal.

No it doesn't crash or slow down or anything like that. Just gets stupidly hot. I guess I have to have the cooling pad
