Sims 4 Painter Career

I don't know if this is solved yet, can't find anything that relates to me. So if my sim joins the painter career, when it's time to go to work they go for less than an hour and come back. But the icon still says they are at work and the inventory is grey coz they are supposed to be at work. Even when work is supposed to be over everything is still in work mode, the icon and the inventory. I can't get out of it unless my sim travels and when I come back my career has disappeared like they quit or something. Please help. This doesn't happen if other careers I use btw
