Sims 4 save files being glitchy after being recovered from corrupted hard drive

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time I open the game
What is your current game version number? 1.89.214.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? None, just base game deluxe
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to recover saves from a corrupted hard drive.
What do you expect to see? My sims and the lots that I made in the world and in my library.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes

(I'm trying to post this again after it was marked as spam because I forgot to put in a title)

Hi there, I'm having problems recovering my save files from my old laptop (hp pavilion notebook) which crashed with a corrupted hard drive.

Unfortunately I didn't back up any save files prior to this (stupid, I know) but I was able to find someone who could recover them from my old laptop onto another hard drive. However when I tried to copy the files over onto my new laptop (acer nitro 5) I started having issues.

I started a new save with a sim called Shibata and it seemed to work fine so I think it's a problem with the files rather than the game itself.

I've included screenshots to show the problems I'm having, I am unable to see any of the sims or the lots I created in my library (the rest of the gallery is working fine, it's only the things I've made) and when I try to open one of my old save files, nearly every lot has orange/red triangles above them and when you try to visit them the lot is empty. I've tried contacting EA help but they've just sent me links to help pages I've already looked at and tried and I'm not sure what else to do. I've tried repairing the game through origin and reinstalling the sims 4 also.

    @BrionyCBolton

There is nothing that can be done about damaged save files.

If you can load the saves you may be able to save the households you made so you can use them in a new game.

  • @BrionyCBoltonIt's most likely that these saves are not saveable. What likely has happened is that when the hard drive corrupted, the save files corrupted with it. Without any backups, these saves can't be restored. The only way to save these would be through restoring backups, which, since there are no backups of these saves, won't be possible.

Edit: This is also why the issue isn't appearing in new households, because those households weren't on the corrupted hard drive.
