sims 4 start-up issues

When i try to start up Sims 4, either through origin or directly from my home screen, a window opens and the game starts to load but then after all the logos and stuff the load screen starts to flip out and does this weird glitchy thing that carrys on for about ten seconds. The main screen then pops up and everything seems fine until i actually go to play the game. the second i click the play button the glitchy screen comes back and everything goes to hell, either the window goes black and i can't close it without suffering the wrath of the glitchy screen again or it just keeps flashing in my face until i turn of my laptop.

i have tried turning my laptop on and off a bunch of times, taken out the disk, tried playing it without the disk in and have uninstalled and re installed the game, I've heard that performing a clean boot seems to fix everyone's problems but i'm wary of messing up my computer by doing that 

any suggestions???
