Sims 4 Stuck in black screen on startup

Can't seem to figure this out. PC should meet minimum requirements (I run max settings on all the games I play and they work fine). Installed Sims 4 through Steam, I am signed into my EA account, it slowly but eventually boots. The screen turns black. I can try ctrl + alt + delete, alt + tab, esc, nothing gets me out of this screen. I can hear the Sims 4 menu music though, so the game must be running. How do I fix this issue so I don't have to restart my computer every time?

  • @sydtheslayer2477  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
