Sims 4 Updates Every Time?

So, I purchased the game yesterday, spent 6 hours downloading it. Went to play today and it says it has another update in Origin, and won't let me play without this new update. We're at 10% in 30 minutes. How is there a new update already? Will this happen every. Single. Time I try to play?

Is this really A THING now?

No, there was a new patch released today and is something that doesn't happen every day. With everyone updating and depending on your internet download speeds, its probably going to take a while to download.
