It depends on the version of Windows you are running, but have you tried to use Windows Update? You have some instructions in this article by Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3067639/how-to-get-an-update-through-windows-update

Relating to whatever anyone has said this topic is years old. This update is already integrated if you have bought/installed your windows within the 4/5 years.

This is a bug that EA should fix as its a problem with their "essential checker". 

Following solution will work for machines that installed W10 64. Also very disappointing in EA community managers as they didnt bring this forward to the technical team.

How to fix as of 12/2018:

1. Uninstall VC Redist ++ 2013 and run the Sims 4 Installer

2. Sims 4 will install the 2013 package for you.

This is a very very simple fix for anybody who knows a bit about object oriented programming = Set the .2013 checker to check before the installer tries to execute.

Yet again EA with disappointing fixes and outdated [Admin edit] and not focusing on providing quality software.
