Sims 4 Windows 11, microsoft,OneDrive

I just changed my PC. Windows 11 and microsoft 365 are installed. I am battling witt OneDrive.  Everything in the game goes to OneDrive. My mods are all updated but when I open the game I get an LE telling me that OneDrive uses older versions of my mods, or some of them. I have desynchronized my PC from OneDrive, to no avail. Has any of you had the same problem. How did you deal with it? I tried to get help from Copilot but after two days of strenuous efforts the problem is not solved. None of the tags are really suitable but since I have to put one I will.

  • Ziafar  The important question is what Windows thinks is the Documents directory for this user account.  Your computer will have several Documents folders, but only one is the directory, and Sims 4 tries to use this location if possible.  It could still be in the OneDrive folder, depending on how you got rid of OneDrive.

So to find out, please search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command, starting with reg query:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

If it spits out a location in OneDrive, change it back to the standard location.  Here's how:

Once you've done that, restart your computer and see whether Sims 4 is now using the location you've chosen, which should be the default %UserProfile%\Documents unless you have a specific reason to move Documents elsewhere.
