Yes , another black screen post...
Hello all, i have spent a few hours now trying to fix my game after recent events. I feel like I have tried almost everything, and having come from a game that was working before the automatic update, it is a little frustrating to say the least. I currently get the game to launch, get past the logo screen, past the blue background and plumbob screen and then we get a black screen with the Sims cursor and music playing ( no text ) I have tried the following checking/updating/removing mods and cc that are broken Deleting local thumbcache Deleting cache through the ea pc app repairing my game through the ea pc app Any ideas, please?248Views0likes15CommentsStuck on plumbob screen
I was playing the game totally fine last night - no issues. I went in today and now am stuck on the loading screen. It plays the sound as if it has loaded and is going to enter the game, but instead it just stays on the loading screen. I do play with mods and CC, but was playing less than 12 hours ago without a problem. I deleted the localcache and that didn’t help. I restarted my computer and the game multiple times and this hasn’t helped. Same issue each time - unless there was some update that I didn’t see happen between last night and today I am totally lost on what could be wrong since the game loaded yesterday night without error - help!!Not sure what kind of issue this is...
Hi! I'm not sure where to post this question. I cleaned up my mods and cc's after the update and reintroduced them all, on by one, back into my game. My game was running fine for the past ten days or so. My game was running fine yesterday. This morning, I turned my game on and a notification popped up saying "Turn Off Auto-scaling with OS Setting?". The two options to select are "Keep Current Settings" or "Turn Off Auto-Scaling (Recommended)". Now when I select "Keep Current Settings" the game wont load fully. It starts to load, and then it stops just before getting to the main menu. If I choose "Turn Off Auto-Scaling" I get a notification stating "Unrecognized Video Card". Can anyone help me figure this out? The game loads to the point of where I can see the green Sims emblem, with the info below that. Then the green emblem disappears, and only the info stays. Then the screen doesn't load past that.47Views0likes2CommentsBest non-gaming laptop for the sims 4
Hi! I’ve recently been looking for a non-gaming laptop that is suitable for the sims 4, with mods, cc and the game packs. Is having a non-gaming laptop the best? Or is it best to have a gaming laptop? As I would like to have a non-gaming one for school work as well. Thank you!387Views0likes12CommentsThe Sims 4 - Frequent crash on desktop
I am experiencing frequent crashes while playing The Sims 4. The game suddenly closes and returns me to the desktop without any error message. I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps: -Removed all mods and custom content -Deleted cache files (localthumbcache, cachestr, etc.) -Reset the Sims 4 folder by creating a new one -Tested with a new save file -Restarted my computer Despite all of this, the issue continues to happen. The crashes seem to occur randomly during gameplay. Could you please let me know if this is a known issue or if there is any additional fix I can try?Directory Junctions for Mods folder no longer functioning after recent update
Product: The Sims 4 Platform: PC / Windows 11 Reproducible: Yes, 100% of the time since the latest patch. Description: Prior to the most recent update, I utilized a Directory Junction (mklink /J) to host my 105GB Mods library on an external drive (E:) while linking it to the game directory on my system drive (C:). This is a standard practice for players managing limited internal storage. Since the update, the game no longer recognizes the linked folder. Upon launching, the "Viewed Custom Content" list is entirely empty. If the link is removed and a physical folder is created on the C: drive with the same mods, they load correctly. This indicates the game's file-system crawler is now ignoring symbolic links or failing to parse the directory depth through a junction. Impact: My system drive has less than 150GB of total space. Forcing a 105GB mod folder onto the C: drive leaves less than 45GB for Windows operations, page files, and game cache, significantly degrading system performance and making smooth gameplay impossible. This issue likely affects a large portion of the community who rely on external storage for high-capacity CC libraries. Requested Action: Please investigate why the game engine is no longer following directory junctions for the Mods and User Data folders. Restoring compatibility for these links is essential for players with standard internal storage configurations.SolvedMy game won't load past the mods pop-up at startup.
So, if you use mods or cc, you know that when you first startup the game, it gives you a pop-up of the mods and cc in your game. When I hit the arrow to close that pop-up, instead of it going away and me being on the home screen, the home screen is in the background of a translucent dark color, and I am unable to click on anything. This is a picture of how it looks when I am stuck: I have had this happen before, and normally, I have to force the game shut, and when I reopen it, it's fine. But since I updated my game today, I can't get it to stop happening. These are the mods I have currently: I do normally use UI cheats, but I saw that it wasn't working as of today, so I removed it. I can't get into the game to turn off mods or turn off organized debug so I can remove better build buy (if it's what is causing the issue). As you can also see, there is a problem with my access to the marketplace. Instead of how it's supposed to look, it has an exclamation mark and says my access isn't connected, and to check my internet connection or try again later. I have had this problem since the marketplace launched, and I am not offline. With the last update, I went offline and waited until the mods I use were updated and then updated. The marketplace still didn't work, but I was able to play the game. I haven't been able to claim the free kit or see any of the new content because of this.Solved64Views0likes3CommentsConstant small freezes/stuttering
Before I start, I know that there are a myriad of issues happening due to the recent update and hot fix this month (march 2026) and that everyone seems to be having a lot of issues due to cc and game launching. However, I'm not seeing much (I havent delved too deep) about people experiencing stuttering or lagging. I started a fresh save (with cc, but all updated and cleaned out anything I wasn't sure of) and in CAS I cannot even get through editing a sim because of the sharp stuttering and lag every time I scroll or go to select an option in any of the menus. I'm currently doing a repair and have removed my mods folder as well as the thumbnail cache file but I was wondering if theres a specific fix for this kind of thing. Never had any lag or stuttering issues before this update or any time in the past beyond the very occasional and fast ending lag spike when traveling, selecting a new sim or going out of 3x speed. Any help would be great and will close this discussion if the repair works. Thank you.Am I dumb?? Image Attached
When my game (unwillingly) updated itself, I went to do the usual thing we all do is check our mods and what not. When I went to my files, it's all different and I don't want to further break anything. So far I have lost every tray and save file. It is in a completely different location hidden in one of these files. I have now idea where to put any of my mod/script. I have uninstalled the game at least 4 times now with no change. Pls help? Am I behind in the Sims world or do I have an issue? SulSul! <3 APGame won't load since the last two updates
Ever since I installed the new updates, I have been unable to play The Sims. The game refuses to load; instead, it crashes before even reaching the loading screen. I keep getting an error message that says there was an issue on EA's end that caused the game to fail to load. I do play with mods, but this almost feels like that marketplace was created to break our mods. I'm a long-time Sims player, and I love the game. I have purchased every pack since the Sims original came out back in 2000. These last few updates have been the most disappointing Sims experiences I've ever had. I really don't want to lose my mods, and I really hope this isn't a ploy to make us purchase CC from the new marketplace.195Views6likes4Comments
