@amysheepherd If your computer runs Windows, then yes, you're correct. (For Macs, the relevant question is whether the Mac supports Metal or not.) But if you've been playing the 32-bit version of Sims 4, then Origin would have prompted you to download the Legacy Edition when it was released.
To launch in 64-bit, just change the option in Origin. Open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and select 64-bit from the dropdown menu. If you don't see it, right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Repair, then look again.
I'm experiencing the same issue as the OP, but when I followed your instructions, I don't have a drop down option to change how the game runs. Other thoughts?

@veda0808 Does your computer run Windows or macOS? The option is only available in Windows, as the Mac version of the game has always been 64-bit. If you do have a Mac, please list its full specs, as described in this post:
If you're running Windows, right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Repair, quit Origin and reopen it, then look again.
