Sims 4 won't launch although running 64 bit system

My laptop runs a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor which lead me to believe I was allowed to play The Sims 4 without downloading the Legacy Pack and consequently paid for and installed the...

I'm experiencing the same issue as the OP, but when I followed your instructions, I don't have a drop down option to change how the game runs. Other thoughts?

@veda0808  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?  The option is only available in Windows, as the Mac version of the game has always been 64-bit.  If you do have a Mac, please list its full specs, as described in this post:

If you're running Windows, right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Repair, quit Origin and reopen it, then look again.
