Sims 4 won't launch

I've been having this issue for 24 hours now. It worked fine yesterday until about 2am then when I tried to play at 7pm it just kept relaunching the EA app and not starting the game at all. It's still doing it today. I'm at a loss as to why it's doing it or how to fix it. I moved the saved folders as suggested elsewhere and nothing changed. DxDiag attached.

  • LadyVampy13  To be clear, did you try moving your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts?  If not, please do so now.

Please also disable Game Mode and Game Bar, both under Windows Settings > Gaming.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please  look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to launch Sims 4.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

puzzlezaddictThanks for getting back to me. I had already moved the whole The Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and saved it to my Desktop. Both Game Mode and Game Bar are always disabled. There are no errors related to my trying to launch the game at any point since my last successful  launch on Tuesday evening during the livestream and I've tried several times a day since then.

I even tried repairing and then reinstalling the EA app but still I get the preparing game message followed by the EA app reopening and nothing more. This has only become an issue since I closed the game early hours of Wednesday morning following the content update; I never even got chance to look at the new stuff ☹️

Anything you could suggest would be gratefully received.

  • I've now managed to get the game to open but the new content isn't appearing.

  • LadyVampy13  You'd need to restart the game to see the new content.  If you still don't, open Options > Game Options > Sims Delivery and click the button to check for updates, let them install, and restart again.

If that doesn't help either, open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete the content folder, then repeat the above.
