Sims 4 wont save after playing

So i've been having a lot of problems with my sims game recently. mainly with my saving. Originally my game wouldn't save properly at all. I would press save and it would be stuck continuously saving for hours, so i'd try exiting the game and trying again which ends up with me losing various hours of gameplay. I thought it was because of my high graphics, so i turned it down to just high and it seemed to fix my problem... but at the time i had just loaded the family in and only did a handful of actions. I think there's a problem with my game and saving once I actually start playing it and it's kind of devastating as I went through already 2 hours of the house and the godforsaken save trap is still happening to me. I know that my mods probably contribute to this a little seeing as I have 1,000+ of them downloaded but I really don't know what's causing the problem? can anyone help me?

oh and whenever this happens i get the little sandtimer icon next to the cursor when i save, which im assuming indicates that its lagging/experiencing a problem with the save screen. and whenever i save i use just the save option not the save as or save and exit.

@futileknowledge  That usually happens because OneDrive is having trouble syncing the files.  Do you see the same error if you've paused syncing?  That's the typical way to get around it.

@futileknowledge  Okay, copy the entire Sims 4 folder to a safe location, preferably an external drive or USB stick, but the Downloads folder will work if you don't have anything else.  (Right-click on the folder and select Copy, then right-click in the destination folder and select Paste.)  You should be able to do this with OneDrive syncing paused, but if not, unpause it.  Then pause syncing again if necessary, cancel the current sync, and choose not to auto-sync Documents.

Restart your computer, launch Sims 4, start a new save, and see whether it works.  If you can in fact save, restart your computer again and make sure you can load that save.
