I was wondering why will the teen Sims be the same height as the adults and elders? Some of these changes seem like they rushed the production of the game and left out little details in the game.

It most probably has to do with the amount of animations they need to do if they are not the same height. They would need to program every animation for teens too so it was one of the cuts they made.
It was a lot of trade-offs. You have to decide if you can live with that or not.
