Sims do not load into map

Issue

Game breaking bug: When loading into a new area sims do not appear on map.  The sim I am controlling cannot be seen and cannot do anything.  No other sims can be seen so I am assuming they are all stuck as well.  While I cannot see my sim or others, my sim will attempt to talk to other sims indicating to me that they are there.  The spot they are stuck in is the area where NPCs first load into maps.  The resetSim command will reset them individually and they will then begin to move about and function normally but resetSim with the * wildcard does not work.  Not sure if this indicates that while the sim is suppose to be there that maybe they haven't fully loaded into the map.

Steps you took for Issue to occur

Loading into a new area.

Where does the bug occur ?

Everywhere.  Deleted all old saves, made multiple new games, issue persists.  All areas you can travel to.

Mods/CC

Deleted all of them from my computer.

Expansion Packs/Game Packs/Stuff Packs

All.

Occurring since

Ever since I installed the latest expansion, City Living.  Had not played in a while before the install so unsure if it was a previous patch I did not play.

Operating system

Windows 10.

Additional Troubleshooting:  I have completely wiped the install and redownloaded a fresh installation.  Issue persists.  CAN BE RELIABLY REPEATED.

  • Hi @vthings

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Forgot about the folder in Documents.  I had some old mod files in it, probably the culprit.  I deleted the whole thing since my saves were gone anyway.  No biggie, I'm always restarting.  Seems to have worked.  Thanks for your help.
