sims doesnt launch

earlier today i bought discover university and tiny living on amazon and redeemed it on the origin app. everything was fine for a few hours until i relaunch the game and i get this error message. so i google the issue ad find someone asking something similar here so i try what they did and nothing works. ive clicked repair on origin atleast 10 times already and have reinstalled it 5 times and only 2 of those times was i able to open the sims. at first i left my cc and mods but now i dont have any cc or mods in the mods folder but i still get this message everytime i try to launch the game. any help is appreciated, thanks for reading.

edit: i ended up goingin and deleting the sims 4 file and it opened! then i had to reopen the game for my packs to work and now its giving the same error message again.

  • @deskkiscool  Do you use a third-party antivirus?  If so, that could easily be the cause of this particular error, and possibly the reason Tiny Living isn't being repaired properly.

Additionally, did you ever delete only the folder for Tiny Living from the game's program files?  When the base game is installed through Steam, the folder would be located here by default:

    Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4

You're looking for the folder labeled SP16 (Tiny Living was the 16th stuff pack released), as noted.  Please clear Origin's cache (again) before reinstalling the pack.

@deskkiscool  At the moment, are you seeing any issues other than the missing textures from Tiny Living?  Please also post a screenshot of the error you've been referencing, the one you see when launching the game.

Please also let me know what antivirus you use, if any.

@DeanXeL  Just in case you were wondering, I never had any intention of abandoning this thread, but I did need to sleep.

Also, so you're aware, Origin doesn't sync Sims 4 saves with cloud storage no matter what settings are used.

@deskkiscool  I'm glad to hear it's working.  For the one file you couldn't delete, it likely had nothing to do with this issue, both because you didn't need to delete it to fix your game and because of its name.  But in the future, if you can't delete something you want to get rid of, the usual workaround is to restart your computer and make sure the relevant app is closed and there aren't any related background processes running in the Task Manager.
