Sims Won't Follow Commands After 4/12 Patch

When I saw the 4/12 patch was available, I uninstalled all my mods, and proceeded to download it. After opening the game, closing it again, reinstalling mods, and opening it once more, I went on and began to play a household. Everything seemed to be working smoothly for a couple of minutes and then, when I tried to get a hungry sim to make food using the refrigerator, the bubble appeared for half a second, dropped down, and disappeared. The sim also made what I would call a spastic "starfish" motion when the command disappeared.

While I tried to fix the issue myself, I noticed other alarming things. Sims would follow autonomous commands, yet half of the time they wouldn't even move. A sim was brewing tea and I saw the tea brewing by itself across the house. Another sim was peeing in the other room, and after they got up the toilet, they stared at the wall. Then, the uncomfortable moodlet for having to pee came up, right after the sim had peed!

I have tried repairing my game, and removing CC that I recently installed. I'm not sure what to do. My game is basically unplayable - what's the point in doing sims if you can't even control them? I've also reset my sims. Any tips or tricks?

  • I had the same issue after this latest update. All I can tell you is 99% sure it is a mod. I had to update one mod and the other is disabled because the author has not updated it. Make sure you remove your mods and then try the game. If it works replace your mods one by one to see if you have one that needs to be updated.

You could try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if it works with yours. ( It works with mine!)

    1. Move your sims 4 folder ( Documents - Electronic Arts - The sims 4 is in there) to the desktop.

    2. Start the game and there will a new sims 4 folder replace the one you moved to desktop in step 1.

3.Create new sims and play to test whether your sims can move or not.

    4. Exit the game and add back the options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " folders - except the "mods", from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new file/folders with the old file/folders.

    GOOD LUCK!
