Sims4 says DLCs not owned after Origin->EA migration. How do I get my DLCs back?

I tried to login to my Origin client a week or so ago to play my Sims4 game, but the client said I had a wrong or expired password. I tried to reset the password, and then it worked to login but my username had to be my email address instead of "harmone88". I then read on Wikipedia that EA has made it mandatory to change from the Origin client to "The EA app for Windows", so I downloaded and installed "The EA app for Windows", but that app also does not allow me to change my ID to "harmone88", so I changed it to "harmone77" which was allowed.

My Sims4 was not available in the EA app. So I downloaded it in the EA app again, and it worked but now the Sims4 game claims that the Seasons expansion pack is "not owned". I had a lot of other packs and Sims4 DLCs purchased and installed when I used the Origin client but they're all "not owned" now. I'm guessing something went wrong when the EA app refused to let me name my account the exact same username as my Origin username? Can some EA staff please fix this for me? I suppose if you manually change my username to "harmone88" as I had in my Origin client, my Sims4 DLCs will automatically be marked as "owned" again in the EA client and everything will start working as usual again?

  • Hi @harmone77,

There isn't a migration tool for swapping from Origin to the EA App, you'd just need to login to the EA App using the same login details that you use for Origin, and all your games and DLC will be available in the EA App in your game library to download and play. It sounds like when you logged into the EA App, you created a brand new EA account instead of logging in with your already existing account where all your games were located.

Manually changing your user ID to your old ID wouldn't restore your game library- you need to log back into the original account that you purchased your content on to access your games again.

I'd recommend checking any emails you have for the email receipt of these purchases so you know which account to login to the EA App to. If you need further help locating the correct login details, that's something live support can help with- you can reach out to live support by submitting a help request here, or you can get in touch with that team via Twitter or Facebook as well.

  • @harmone77  It sounds very much like you've signed into the wrong account.  The name from your old account is taken, which is why you can't use it again in the new account, and the old account also owns your packs.  Since the Sims 4 base game is now free, you were able to add it to the new account, but you wouldn't have needed to do so in the old account.

As I said in my first post: The Origin -> EA user account migration tool did not allow me to choose the same username ("harmone88") in the EA app as I already had in the Origin app. So this problem must obviously be solved by EA and is impossible to be solved by me. You are not helping by blaming me the user instead of blaming EA and their faulty account migration tool.

So, how do I get an EA employee to read and reply to this post and fix my problem?

@harmone77  There is no "migration tool."  You install the EA App and then you sign into the same account you were using in Origin.  As in, you enter the same email address (NOT username) into the EA App that's tied to your existing EA account.  There is no point at which you should need to choose a username because the username is already designated for any existing account.

You wait until Monday when the relevant EA employees are back in the office.

  • I don't think that you're logged into the wrong account, I'm having the same problem. All of my expansion packs such as cats and dogs are gone but if I go and look at my old households they still have the pets in them... But if I create a new household it won't let me use any of the packs and says I don't own them

Thanks for explaining things. I just realized that I had an old EA account that I created about ten years ago when I bought the Sim City game. So when I login into that old EA account, I can play Sim City, and when I login into the newer EA account, I can play Sims4. So I clicked on one of your links to request a transfer of the Sim City game to my EA account that has the Sims4 game. Hopefully that's possible to do so I can use only one of my EA accounts from now on.
