Skills Not Notifying
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.58.69.1210
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs, all game packs.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When increasing a skill level, no notification pops up in the corner to confirm.
What happens when the bug occurs? The skill percentage goes beyond 100%. Once levelled up, it will make the levelling up sound. But no notification is received, thus locking out any rewards for that skill level.
What do you expect to see? A notification telling me what skill level I have achieved and the reward related to that skill level.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
Hello everyone. I've recently noticed when playing my family of two that whenever one of them level up in a skill, more often than not I won't get a notification pop up informing me I have levelled up in that skill. For example, I have an actor and a musician, and when they level up their acting, or charisma skill, the skill percentage bar will go over 100%, it will then level up and make the sound it does when you level up, but most of the time, doesn't notify me in the corner. So when I levelled up my acting skill to level 4, despite being level 4 the Trouper's Looking Glass Mirror is still locked in buy mode, the same for other unlocks. I don't have any mods or CC in my game, I have repaired the game numerous times and made sure it is up to date but still keeps happening with many families.
I was just wondering if there is a way to fix this? Thank you
Hm. Haven't had any issues personally, so could you try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199
You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.
Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.
- Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
- Tray Folder
- Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
- Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
- Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
- Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)
The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
