STILL having trouble trying to open EA app, or getting EA app to load my library

It depends on the day, but having trouble with loading the EA app, or if it does load, it's a blank screen.  I keep going through the process suggested for clearing the cache, etc... but it's a continual problem with just trying to get to my SIMS 4 game.  This has only been a problem since the last update leading up to the release of LoveStruck.  I'm getting REALLY annoyed!  As if I would put any more of my money into other packages that are now causing so many problems to getting access to my game, let alone the internal in-games problems I've also reported.

No more money, EA!

  • @mjdsaund  Sims 4 has a new executable since June, so your antivirus settings could still be the problem even if those settings have remained consistent.  The game executable used to be TS4_x64.exe, but now that only corresponds to the newly-introduced DirectX 11 version.  The DirectX 9 version, still the default, uses TS4_DX9_x64.  And there's also TS4_Launcher_x64, which some antivirus software has been flagging.

For the EA App issue, some players report that they need to kill the EABackgroundService in the Task Manager after closing the App if they want to open it again.  Restarting the computer works too.

  • @mjdsaund  The next time this happens, try forcing the EA App to update. Go here:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

    and launch the EAUpdater.exe.

If you use a third-party antivirus, please also make sure it has an exception set for EADesktop.exe.

    Thank you.

I've been uninstalling the app and reinstalling, which seems to temporarily work.  My concern is that it occurs way too often after the LoveStruck update was distributed.

I have used the technique you specified also... sometimes works, sometimes not.  It's very hit-and-miss.

Also, forgot to say in last post, that it's not my anti-virus/security settings because nothing has changed there.  And I've been happily using the app for the last 7 years without a problem.  Again, it's a post LoveStruck update that the "force" for "disturbance".
