Switched from Origin to EA App - now only launching legacy edition

Hi !

I recently switched from Origin to the new EA App (it got to the point where it would no longer let me continue on Origin) so I finally made the switch and initially the game worked fine - all my progressed was saved and all the packs I have purchased were there and I essentially carried on as normal

This worked fine for about 5 or 6 times after I initially switched to the EA app, but now every time that I try to launch the Sims it comes up with the following 'Start-up error' message:

'Unable to migrate the user data directory to Legacy Edition. The Sims 4 Legacy Edition will continue with new data' - and then the game continues to launch as the legacy edition, something that I have never installed

Since this has happened, I have not been able to access any of my game progress or a significant amount of my purchased content.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the game launch normally with my existing progress and purchased content instead of launching the legacy edition? I have used the EA Help chat function several times in the last week or so but no one has been able to help me return to how the game worked before (one suggested that I change my EA password to solve this issue?)
