text blur

i just updated my game to 1.92 and suddenly it appears very blurry, extremely on the text. it only happens when my game is in fullscreen, i have tried to change it to windowed fullscreen and it went back to normal. the text became readable again (not hurting my eyes). i use a 1080p 144hz monitor and my gpu is rx 6600. is anyone having the same problem?

  • @vivikhun  Try disabling post processing.  It shouldn't affect text at all, but the implementation of post processing in Sims 4 is kind of janky, so it's worth a test.

Additionally, do you have a custom DPI setting either overall or for this user profile?  If so, try setting both back to 96 (100%) and restarting your computer.  Here's how to check:

You could also try running your monitor at a lower refresh rate, temporarily, to see whether it helps.  Here again, it shouldn't matter, but since 144 Hz might technically be an overclock, it could introduce some subtle weirdness, and it's easy to change the refresh rate back and forth.

Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions other than playing with the Adrenalin settings.  I think I've seen this issue reported before, but only with older graphics chips that might not have had good driver support.  So I don't really know why this would happen on current hardware and software.

  • @vivikhun  Do you mean patch 1.96?  That's the current patch level, so please double-check that.

What resolution are you playing at in-game?  The setting is with the other graphics options.  If it's already showing 1920x1080 in fullscreen mode, try switching it to something else, still a 16:9 resolution.  Quit the game and reload it, then see how it looks, and go back to 1920x1080.  Quit and reload again and let me know if the blur is still present.

yes sorry i meant 1.96, the latest patch. i play it at 1080p, same as my desktop resolution. i've tried to change it to lower resolution, save, restart the game but it's still didn't work. i've also tried to not use any cc, again, didn't work.

@vivikhun  Please post a screenshot of your in-game graphics settings.  With the game in windowed mode, you can click Windows key-shift-S and drag your cursor over that portion of the screen.

You can also try playing with some of the AMD Adrenalin graphics and display settings, either globally or for Sims 4.  I'm not sure what they all do, but this is a good guide:

Changing the settings won't do any harm, and you can always change them back.  I'd start with the anti-aliasing settings.

below is my settings for the game and amd adrenalin. i came across another ea answer that have the same problem solved by turning off anti aliasing in their nvidia graphics settings. but from the beginning i didn't turn on the anti aliasing in adrenalin. i also tried to turn on anti aliasing but still the problem remains, blurry text.
