Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 Problem With Your Game's Setup
The error message that pops up when I try to open the game states: "There is a problem with your games set up. please reinstall your game". I did this it did not work, I checked the files with steam, and nothing is missing/installed wrong. After that I did what other users suggested:
1) Disable Steam Overlay
Steam Library → Right-click The Sims 4 → Properties → General → Disable Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.
2) Force DirectX 9 (temporary test)
If your GPU is older or having driver issues, DX11 can crash or hang.
In Steam → Properties → Launch Options, add:
-dx9
3) Delete Options.ini (reset video settings)
Go to:
Documents\\Electronic Arts\\The Sims 4
Delete Options.ini. This forces the game to rebuild clean graphics settings and often fixes the white screen.
4) Clear shader/cache file
In the same folder, delete:
localthumbcache.package
After this the game still did not work, so I tried another commentors suggestions, none worked. I reset the cache on the EA app, steam, Sims 4 and my PC. I reset my PC; it did not work. I then I deleted Sims 4 and everything related to the app, at this point I had already deleted all my mods as well. I redownloaded Sims 4, no mods or DLC. Still the game shows the same error. I truly believe there is nothing else I can do on my end, My PC is updated, plenty of space and well taken care of. It has never had a problem with running Sims 4 until now. The whole community is having a multitude of problems after the most recent update; we cannot enjoy it if we cannot play the game. I do not know how this can be fixed, the above methods worked for some but not a lot of people are having the specific problem I am. The ones that post about this problem get no help.
