The Game will not load or allow me to play

So I have recently updated my game and thought nothing of it until I came to play on the game the next day. I can't play on a 32bit game because it goes onto the load menu and then the game closes and the 64bit allows me to get as far as getting to the map and then doesn't load.  The game allows me to create a new house hold or to see my other house hold game but as soon as I try to buy a plot for my newly created sim it goes on to the load menu and it doesn't load. I have been sat for over fifteen minutes before today waiting for the game to finish loading so I can get on with it. I've also tried playing on my old household and it's doing the same thing, I'm not sure what to do, do I uninstall the game and then reinstall? I'm truly at my wits end with this game I've been thinking of buying the Get To Work expansion pack but I don't think I will if this problem isn't fixed.
