The Most Hated Company in America - Now I know why....

I have always wondered why EA is the most hated company in America for many years in a row, and now I truly know why. Support is ridiculous.  I've been waiting to get connected to Live Chat for 5 hours. I feel it's only a gimmick, maybe Live Chat doesn't work at all?  And we're off helping ourselves in this forum with no support from them.

Anyway, I have preloaded Sims 4 successfully, which means my key has been accepted. But when i click Play, "Could not connect to EA servers to activate Sims 4".  Have tried turning off firewall, antivirus, relogin Origin, reboot computer, to no avail. And now waiting to get connected to Live Chat which doesn't seem to happen.

I read cases where people are being put in special cases, and it never gets fixed. I feel I will become one of those cases. Wasted $54.99.  But you can Prove me wrong.

    This solution worked for me!

    I opened internet explorer and went to the Origin website but did not login. I clicked the little gear wheel in the top right corner of the browser.

    Click Internet Options

    Click Security Tab

    Click Trusted Sites

    Click Sites in the little box

    A window popped up & had the origin web address in the 'add this website to the zone' box.

    Click Add

    Click Close

    Check this:


    Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN Settings --> Untick Proxy Server

    Ahhh,  after I do this, suddenly in Origin, the release date becomes September 4, not September 2, why??

    I am American but I currently reside in China for work. I use VPN almost all the time since many things are blocked here. I wonder if that could be the cause.  But I thought Asian release is September 2.

    It could be VPN but yes, you should be able to play in China on the second.

    Did you try turning off your VPN ?

    Turning off VPN shows Release date as September 4, so now I cannot even click Play. It's grayed out.  Maybe I have to wait for September 4.

    Thank you so much for this list.  It may be under All other countries, together with UK and Ireland at September 5. I will try again on Sept 5, and if it works then, I'll mark your answer as solution.

    Anyway, 1 last question for you. I thought that VPN would make so that it seems I am in the US? Or it still recognizes that I am logging in from China?
