The new update is crashing my computer.

So I’m having a really serious issue trying to play and update the sims. 
I load up the ea app. Fine. I click on the sims to update it, it gets to 4% and my computer goes unresponsive and the only way to stop it is turn off my computer. My graphics started going faulty, and I’ve had to replace it. And everyone I’ve spoke to said it was caused but that. But it’s still doing it with the new graphics card. I’ve tried everything at this point and it’s still tanking my computer when it gets to 4% It’s really upsetting me because sims is completely unplayable for me now.
