I took my Mods folder from my Sims 4 folder, and did what you said to do, but it won't let me open the game even if I put one folder back in. It comes up with the same error message.
I hope you can help me 😛
So it works without the folders?
Does it matter which one you put in?
Like, only the tray folder, or only the saves-folder?
Or which folders are you talking about? Mods? 🙂

I mean, it dosen't work with OR without the folder, the error still comes up all the time.
Sorry if I was't clear enough! 🥳

Oh okay, even when you did the backup thing and let the game create a completely new folder?
Okay, try this:
- If the game created a new The Sims 4 folder in Documents/Electronic Arts, delete it.
- If you have your own files there, move the The Sims 4 folder to the desktop, so there's no The Sims 4 folder in Electronic Arts.
- Delete Origin cache
https://crinrict.com/blog/2014/09/delete-origin-cache-files.html - Repair the game
- Try to start it (don't move anything back at all)

I did exactly what you told me to do, I deleted the Sims 4 Folder that the Sims 4 generated, and repaired the game. After it was finished I clicked PLAY and it wouldn't work still. It came up with the SAME error message. "Unable to start: Cannot start because required game data is missing or damaged. Please repair or reinstall the game via origin."
I'm getting concerned now.. Hopefully there is another solution. 😕
