Laptop recommemdations

Hi all.  I have a very old laptop and dont think I can play the sims 4 on it. I've attached the laptops info in pictures( I think 😂)

Does anyone have any recommendations but on  a very small budget please?

I play on the ps4 already but interested on the mods and cc side too.

Thanks for any help 😊

  • sarahrory  You're right, you probably couldn't run Sims 4 on this laptop even if you managed to install Windows 7 on it.  The EA App doesn't run on Vista and doesn't officially support 7, although it seems to work okay most of the time.  But the 2 GB RAM would probably prevent the game from loading past CAS, at least not without a lot of trouble.

As for a new laptop, please list your budget and country, and I'll try to find something suitable.

Thank you so much 😊 I'm in the UK

A very small budget of 400 max

  • sarahrory  This is the best laptop I'm seeing for £400 or less:

    https://ao.com/product/bh3g3eaabu-hp-omnibook-5-laptop-silver-110180-251.aspx

It's the only new model I found with 16 GB RAM (and otherwise decent hardware), which is a significant advantage when you're dealing with integrated graphics, even if having 8 GB isn't fatal.  Its graphics chip is also faster than anything else I'm seeing in this price range.  It should be capable of running Sims 4, all current packs included, on high graphics settings, possibly with one or two turned down to medium.

If you don't like that one for whatever reason, this is the next-best model I found, with a graphics chip that's not as fast as the one in the laptop above but should still be able to handle medium-high settings:

If neither is what you want, let me know why, and I'll have another look.  There are other options for the same price that are good enough, just not as good as these two.

And if you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

That's fantastic! Thank you so much!! I wasn't sure what specs to fully look for so that's a great help!

Hiya  sorry to bother you again. I possibly may be able to up my budget to 500 now. Would you have any other recommendations for that please? (Uk)

    Thanks 😊

  • sarahrory  This laptop is £420 and has a somewhat-faster graphics chip:

    https://www.very.co.uk/lenovo-ideapad-slim-3-amd-ryzen-5-16gb-512gb-with-mouse-backpack-amp-earbuds/1601202402.prd

And this one is £500 and has a graphics chip that's somewhat faster than that:

    https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-aspire-15-15.6-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-512-gb-ssd-grey-10284831.html

I don't see anything else that can match these two and that doesn't also have some other flaw (like a bad screen).  If you don't like these for whatever reason, let me know why, and I'll list some options that fit your preferences and are a half-step down or so in terms of performance—there are plenty of laptops available in that tier.  But these are the fastest.

I would say the first laptop is enough of an upgrade over the Omnibook, at a low-enough price difference, that it's an easy decision as long as you're comfortable going to £420.  The second laptop is definitely a further upgrade, but if you don't need to play on the highest settings possible, it's not really necessary.

You wouldn't find a gaming laptop for £500 outside of an excellent Black Friday deal, at least not new, so the goal is to get fast-enough hardware to play at high-enough settings that you're happy while not losing out on another feature that matters.

hi! for £500 I would recommend getting a MacBook neo it's really the best budget laptop out there and apparently runs very well with the sims 4 even with cc and mods as gaming laptops are £1000 or more
