Do you have any controllers or other USB devices plugged in when running the game? Make sure your drivers for the devices that are plugged in are up to date, too.

If your Windows needs an update, it may be worth a shot to try and update that as well.

Nope, don't have any devices plugged in apart from my wifi adapter. I'm pretty sure everything's up to date too. Should I run it with my old card (geforce 210) and see how that goes? Since the game automatically selects the appropriate settings for your game, so it'd be worth a shot imo.
