Only way I found as a workaround to this craptastic EA app is to close it and reinstall Origins app. After it is reinstalled, follow the instructions that are summarized on this page:

Once you do all that, run ORIGINS first and make sure everything is updated and from then on whenever you want to run it offline make sure Origins is opened FIRST before you run it with that or Steam. So far, that has been one of the few ways I've found that works.
