FYI ... My Sims4 game "stopped working" all the time until I disabled Origin in the game, so I'm assuming this might be an Origin problem and not a Sims4 problem.
To disable Origin in the game:
1. Open Origin
2. Hover your mouse pointer over the Sims4 icon in your library and click on the "i" button to view the game info.
3. Click on Game Properties
4. Put a check in the box that says "Disable Origin in Game for this game"
My Sims4 hasn't stopped working since.
Personally, I have never liked Origin ... it has always caused me problems, so I'm perfectly happy disabling it "in game", since I can't see any benefits in having it "abled".
Edit: Well, my game just stopped working again ... fortunately I had recently saved it. Now, I'm saving the darn game every 10 minutes cuz I'm so paranoid about it crashing. grrrrrrr

Thank you for your suggestion but for me disabling Origin didn't work. Still waiting for some kind of hope of a fix because I have tried every single suggestion and have seriously wasted all day trying to get this game to work. I am about ready for a refund.
