(The Sims 4) My new game needs repaired??

I have just downloaded The Sims 4, BRAND NEW, (I bought the disc years ago and recently found it so decided to start playing again) but the PC keeps showing me that the game needs repaired.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the EA app and The Sims 4 game, but it keeps showing.

Is this some sort of error that shouldn't be showing? How can it need repaired if it's never been played before?

  • @brodiebecky  Did you install the game via disc or download it directly from the EA App?  Downloading is much better because you get a fully-updated game right away, and updating such an old version as is on a disc can be unreliable.

Another reason you might need to keep repairing is that your antivirus is quarantining something within the game's program files.  So check the antivirus to see whether there are any recent actions involving Sims 4 or the EA App, and if necessary, add TS4_x64.exe and EADesktop.exe as exceptions.

If neither of these helps, please let me know where you've installed the game.  Open your EA App library, click Sims 4, select Manage > View properties, and you'll see the location there:

  • I have to repair my game every other day that I play it. This takes forever and I have to babysit the process because even after clearing the cache and restarting, it almost always gets caught in a loop updating. This has been my experience with the game for over a year now. I don't think it's my antivirus as none of the programs are triggering it and I have all of the programs in 'exceptions.' I have no idea why it needs constant repairing. i have no mods and the game never crashed when i play it. i've deleted save files and this doesnt help.

If anyone has experienced and resolved this please help because it's been over a year now and nothing i try has worked.

@puzzlezaddict I believe C drive. Thanks for your help. I have an update. I went to add/remove programs and pressed uninstall, for the EA app. This will activate the uninstall menu and it will have only 2 option: uninstall and repair. I clicked repair and this seemed to do the trick. Now, I no longer need to repair the game every other day…. Something about the app was broken and causing the game to break. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.
